(7)now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? (8)I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” ———-Luke 18:7-8 (NASB)
Jesus often told His disciples that they didn’t have much faith. They were always hung up on irrelevant things, like not having enough food, or rough water on the lake, or who was going to sit by Jesus in Heaven. They failed to recognize that the Son of the God of Heaven was in their midst already!
Faith is not about denial of the things we face. We can’t “stick our heads in the sand” and pretend there are no problems. Faith knows and believes that God will grant us whatever we need, in spite of what surrounds us. Faith knows that His faithfulness and love outweigh any problem. Faith knows WHO HE IS.
The journey for me in faith has been, like it has for all of us, a rocky up and down one. The writer’s name, Dorothy Faye, means “God’s gift of faith(trust).” At one point in her life, the only person she trusted was herself. She had joined MENSA, a well know group of intellectual “smart” people, and thought she was cool. God got a hold of her while she was a member, and showed her that “smart” meant nothing and His IQ was WAY higher than hers. She noted immediately after meeting the Lord that the people she met in the organization had no faith in anything except their own IQ. She had just come face up with the fact that God was real, and her brains were pretty puny compared to the warm, powerful, life-changing Presence of God!
Over the years, through the trials of life, I have come to the conclusion that the pathway sometimes gets scary, but God hasn’t run away from me. The path is scary to me, but not to Him. So “standing while the trees bend around me” is what I try to do. He holds my tears in a bottle of remembrance. He puts His arms around me for a place of safety. He works things out for my good even when it seems that everything is falling apart.
God called each of us from the foundation of the world to be His adopted sons and daughters. We were paid for, redeemed from everything that has tried to destroy that place in history by the Son of the Living God. Cancer cannot keep us from His love. A lack of money cannot stop Him from helping us to fulfill our destiny. His grace is sufficient in all things, and in all things His love abounds. In these things lie the grain of faith needed to please our Lord. Plant it and watch it grow!
