A Clear and Present Danger: Sharia Law

Sharia law must NEVER be permitted to exist in the United States. The highly controversial Sharia Law is the most brutal and ruthless attempt to control a society that exists and is being forced upon millions of women and children all around the world. Muslim women and children fall victim to unthinkable and violent acts of torture and abuse. These acts are not only authorized in Islamic societies, but also encouraged. The specific forms of abuse include Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Extreme acts of Domestic violence (to include purposeful disfigurement), Honor Killings and Child Rape, while hiding behind manufactured marriages.

“Mama Don’t Cut!”

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is widely practiced among the fundamentalist groups of Islam and may be forced upon children ranging in ages from toddler to pre-teen. This gruesome and extremely painful practice involves the surgical removal of external genitalia and in some cases the stitching of the vaginal opening. Known as “cutting,” the procedure is traditionally carried out for cultural reasons and is widespread across Africa. It is thought to be needed as proof of a girl’s “purity” for when she marries, but victims are rarely given anesthetic and frequently suffer long-term damage and pain. Both socially and physically, the rite has proven to be exceedingly damaging to women and children alike. Renowned experts of Islamic law in Indonesia, interviewed by Asia News, stigmatize the practice of female circumcision as “damaging”. The practice of FGM, in fact, results in the loss of sexual pleasure and is often practiced in contexts far from sterile, in which there is a clear risk of infection or post-operative consequences. This is why human rights activists, citizens and a large part of civil society have fought for an end to this practice. An act, they describe as “dangerous” and “contrary to health care.” We feel this act is far more than dangerous; FGM is in fact a barbaric, torturous, cruel, inhumane act of violence.

From the Telegraph April 22nd, 2013, in Britain, as many as 100,000 women have been subjected to this torture, though the practice carries a jail sentence of up to 14 years. Research suggests that every year up to 6,000 girls in London are at risk of the potentially fatal procedure, and more than 22,000 in the UK as a whole. FGM will be inflicted on up to 2,000 British schoolgirls during the summer holidays – leaving brutal physical and emotional scars. Yet there have been no prosecutions against the practice. The Metropolitan Police said since 2008, it had received 166 reports of people who fear they are at risk of FGM. It is the same story for all 43 forces across England and Wales with no convictions for the offense ever taking place, according to The Sunday Times. The newspaper added that only two doctors have been struck off by The General Medical Council since 1980. In the shocking video below, you will see a family doctor, a respected dentist, and an alternative medicine practitioner willing to carry out the illegal practice, or arranging for it to be done, on various females in Britain. The doctor and dentist deny any wrongdoing. The video depicts in horrible detail this barbaric practice that a man endorsed as “serving the interest of his daughters.” Female “circumcision” is seen as a “courtesy to the husband,” whatever that means… Note that this video is about how the barbaric practice is carried out in GREAT BRITAIN…

Muslims in America still practice FGM. At least some Muslims justify it based on religious freedom and, in at least one state in which anti-FGM legislation is currently working its way through the legislative process, one legislator reports receiving a phone call from a Muslim constituent urging her to oppose the legislation as “a conspiracy against the Muslim community.” Palestinian-Swiss Sharia scholar reveals one of the origins in the practice of FGM in Islam from a Hadith (a saying, story or tradition of the life of Muhammed):

The most often mentioned narration reports a debate between Muhammed and Um Habibah (or Um ‘Atiyyah). This woman, known as an exciser of female slaves, was one of a group of women who had immigrated with Muhammed. Having seen her, Muhammed asked her if she kept practicing her profession. She answered affirmatively, adding: “unless it is forbidden, and you order me to stop doing it.” Muhammed replied: “Yes, it is allowed. Come closer so I can teach you: if you cut, do not overdo it, because it brings more radiance to the face, and it is more pleasant for the husband.” Muhammad declared, “Circumcision is a tradition for the men and honorable deed for the women.”

With all of this evidence clearly tying the practice of FGM to Islam, why has the US Department of Health and Human Services used our tax dollars to spread disinformation on the subject? If sunlight is indeed the best antiseptic, government efforts to conceal the truth only prolong the continued implementation of this barbaric practice. Until its Islamic justifications are confronted, and the denial that this piece represents with its attribution of the practice to “culture” ends, more girls will suffer.
